About Us

Living Beyond the Pain is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that aims to raise awareness for sundry cancers. We offer educational development on health and wellness. Our organization provides data regarding cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment modalities.

Words to Live By

We firmly believe in the wise words of journalist John Diamond, who bravely said, "Cancer is a word, not a sentence". Our mantra also includes quotes from our founder, Kia-Joy, stating, "Living beyond the pain, one day at a time is our aim”, and “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care”.

Our Educational and Therapeutic Objectives

Each year, we develop a comprehensive interdisciplinary conference that addresses the concerns of cancer patients and their family members. Our seminars and symposiums cover the following topics:

  • Basic Health Needs (Physicals and Bloodwork)
  • Nutrition and Exercise
  • The Impact of Cancer to People
  • Signs and Symptoms
  • Understanding What Cancer Is (Gender-Related and Common Cancers for Men and Women)
  • Knowing the Basics (Terminology, Types of Tumors, Stages, Treatment/Management)
  • Side Effects (Chemotherapy, Surgery, Radiation Therapy, Hormone Therapy, and Biological Therapy)
  • Prevention and Early Detection (BSE, Mammogram, Pelvic Exam, Pap Test, and Colonoscopy)

More Than Just Cancer

Another essential component of the community is Mental Wellness. We understand that many are challenged with mental issues that require supportive measures. In addition, we embrace the Alzheimer’s community. The Alzheimer’s community is a segment that is encased in the mental health sector. We understand that individuals within this category require assistance as they manage life’s experiences.
